Can I Get Credit at a Blacklisted Address

by Jim ONeal (UK Fast Loans Editor) on June 1, 2011

This is often the concern of borrowers who live with someone that has a bad credit history. Luckily, the actual address that is listed will have nothing to do with the actual approval or denial of any credit card or loan application.

When lenders pull a person’s credit report, they are looking into their past, not the address at which they live. If they were using the address, it would be difficult for anyone to get credit if a person living there prior had a black mark on their credit report that did not allow them to gain future credit.

Now, having said that, it is important to verify the addresses that are listed on the credit report. While it will not affect your credit rating or status, it is vital that all information on the credit report be updated and accurate.

The last thing anyone would want is to have his or her credit application turned down because of inaccurate information.
